What's up with heart palpitations?!

Question: What's up with heart palpitations!?
I had some kind of incident yesterday that felt like what I would guess is a heart palpitation or a good 30 minutes of them if that happens!. I called 911 and the paramedics said my pulse and blood pressure were fine - so I passed on the hospital!.

So I see the doctor 2 hours later and get an ECG and the results come back fine!. The doc wrote this off as too much coffee, and he didn't vocalize it, but probably palpitations!.

I felt better this morning, but I'm still getting random minor aches and have general tightness in my chest and what feels like the occasional palpitation!. Tomorrow I'm scheduled for a blood test 1st thing for cholestoral, thyroid and something else!.

I just wanna be sure I'm going to keep waking up in the morning!. My symptoms aren't severe at all, just worrysome!.

Any idea what's wrong with me!? I'm 24 yo male, decent shape, good diet and generally healthy!.

Here is a (long) list of what may cause irregular heartbeat and palpitation!. No panic anything is good, but in excess anything is bad!. Too much of anything is never good, life is all about balance, equilibrium!.

Caffeine could be a cause!. It is found not only in coffee, but in tea, chocolate, cola drinks (pops), and energy drinks, protein shakes for meal substitute or for athletes, too much multivitamin!.!.!.
Cigarette smoking (and other drugs) can cause palpitations!.
Hormonal imbalances (diabetes, low blood pressure, thyroid imbalance!.!.!.) may also be a cause!. The results of your blood test should reveal if any of this is the cause!.
It may also be a result a panic attack!. I had one once, it is very frightening!. Out of the blue and for no apparent reason!. In high school for a field trip in the school bus!.!.!. I felt so miserable!. There is no shame in having panick attack!. This may happen only once in a lifetime and happens to a lot of people!.
Any recent changes that could cause a stress response!?
Any new meds, over-the-couter meds, vitamins, protein supplements, lack of sleep, too much work or exercise, a new love interest maybe!? Sleep deprivation, over-working (job or exercise)!?
Have you become suddendly vegetarian (anemia lack of iron)!?
Have you been vomiting or diarrhea or eating excessive amounts of bananas (all would cause a potassium imbalance which causes irregular heartbeat)!?
What about calcium/milk!? Any extra intake or have you stopped having dairy products!? (Sodium, potassium and calcium are primordial to your cells and must be in balance!. your kidneys filter the excess out, but too much say of salt/sodium and your kidneys may not be able to cope and need a few minutes/hours to clear out all that extra mineral and cause arrhythmias)!.
Have you been ill (eg, flu) with a fever!?
Do you suffer from asthma or seasonal allergies, did you have difficulty breathing, did you just run up a flight of stairs, anything that would cause you to either hyperventilate or to have low oxygen in your blood!?

Is there anything in the above that rings a bell!?

Hopefully it is nothing major and you should be fine!. Good luck =0)Www@Answer-Health@Com

heart palpitations are very common even in young people like yourself!. Excessive caffeine, nicontine can cause them!.
They are usually nothing to worry about, but you should have cardiology workup; EKG, Holter monitor, echocardiogram just to make sure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My family has the wolffe parkinson white syndrome and the heart palps were the main sign, just make sure you ask the cardiologist about this when you see one:)
the tests are simple and painless!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Almost everyone has palpitations at one point in time in their lifetime!. ECG's, can tell almost all of the time, will show events that are dangerous or even defects of the heart valves!. However, ECG definitely does not always show everything!.

If you had a recent myocardial infarction (heart attack) you would of had an abnormal ECG!.

Do you have a heart murmur!? Sometimes those feel or generate palpitations!. Obviously, these palpitations were not PVC's which can be more dangerous!.

Do you have any esophagol problems!? i!.e!. GERD!?

If they checked your blood for cardiac enzymes, those would of been elevated if you had a heart attack!.

You are only 24 and your risk of a heart attack is slim to none!. While not impossible, its very unlikely to occur in a fit individual!.

However, if a cardiologist felt it's need, echocardiogram evaluation would not harm you!. You might have a valvular problem that isn't bad enough to allow you to live into adult hood but thats also not extremely common!.

Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
