Bun/Creatinine Ratio and elevated ALT?!
Question: Bun/Creatinine Ratio and elevated ALT!?
My bun/creatinine ratio is 26!. The normal range is 6-22!. Should I be concerned!? I am a 30 year old female!. Also, my ALT is 46, which is also high!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Neither of those numbers are super high, a little elevated, but not too bad!. A lot of infections, viral or bacterial, can cause your LFT's (liver function tests, the ALT is part of those) to become a little elevated!.
Your hydration can really impact your kidney numbers!. Be sure you're getting enough water!.
I'm assuming you're seeing a doctor or you wouldn't know all these numbers, they are really your best source of info!. They will probably want to monitor these numbers and make sure they trend back down, but that could depend on your history!.
I wouldn't be panicking yet!. Drink lots of water and take care of yourself!. See what the next tests say!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can discuss these issues with your doctor, since the answer will depend on other factors!. It would be more helpful to know the actual BUN and creatinine, rather than just the ratio!. This ratio can fluctuate with hydration!. The ALT is a liver test!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Your BUN and Creatinine are related to your kidney function!. If it's slightly elevated, check with your doctor!. If you are on meds, they may need to be adjusted if not, then they can run more test to see what it's related to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
