Metoprolol tartrate, what does it do?!

Question: Metoprolol tartrate, what does it do!?
is it for blood pressure!? and how does it work with lisinopril/hctzWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Metoprolol tartrate reduces heart rate, blood pressure and myocardial oxygen demand!. Its mechanism of action is different from lisinopril/hctz!. So they can be combined!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Metoprolol or Lopressor (brand name) is used for hypertension!. (high blood pressure) It is a beta blocker!.
Beta blockers basically just reduce your heart's work load and essentially lower your BP!.

Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor!.
ACE inhibitors are involved in the chemicals that are released by the kidneys that elevate BP and try to control them!.

Hydrochlorothiazide or HCTZ is a diuretic (water pill)!.
Diuretics usually work by blocking salt and fluid reabsorption in the kidneys!. It is not understood how it lowers BP, but they do know it does not do a major role in lowering BP!.

You have a good combo here!. The metoprolol will take care of excess workload on the heart while the lisinopril will take care of any possible abnormal hormone release from the kidneys that is saying "pump up the pressure!."

These drugs are also used for other heart problems such as heart failure!.

Best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
