Has anyone ever had an MRI head scan?!
Question: Has anyone ever had an MRI head scan!?
I am due to go for an MRI scan of my head, I was hoping someone can tell me what to expect and what side effects I can expect etc!. anything would ease my worries!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, I've had many over the past 10 years!. I have Multiple Sclerosis, so I usually go annually for both head/brain & spine/cervical!. There's a speaker inside the machine that the tech will talk to you & let you know how many minutes for each part of the scans/tests & not to move!. A head one usually includes a mirror right in front of your eyes that is tipped so that you can see out towards your feet!. A head one doesn't take as long, maybe 30 mins or so, or a little longer if the doc decides they want a contrast one too, which includes a dye injection after the first set!. The only side effect would be if you have an allergy to the dye injection, which could make you feel nauseous or headache if you're really sensitive!. Otherwise, just being a little stiff when you get up is all to expect!. Spine is a lot longer because of a larger area to cover!. It's not too bad, but VERY loud, so be sure to ask for ear plugs!. I thought it sounded like a broken washing machine my very first time, because they didn't offer earplugs!. Also gets cold in the tube, so you can ask them to turn the air down or cover you for comfort, assuming you're not claustrophobic!. Since I have both done each year, mine usually take about 1 1//2 hours!. But!.!.!.I've been able to perfect not being able to move for that amount of time & usually have at least 2 bathroom breaks between!. Go to the bathroom first, put your earplugs in & just close your eyes & try to snooze through the muffled rythmic sounds!. I hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com
I also have MS and have had lots of MRI's!. There is nothing to them!.!.I just put in the ear plugs or listen to music and usually fall asleep!.

no side effects!.!.!.!. dont worry its not a big deal, you just get in this metal tube and sit real still while it makes a loud banging noise and takes some pictures, then ur done!Www@Answer-Health@Com
