Should a person on pills take their pills if their reading is 50?!

Question: Should a person on pills take their pills if their reading is 50!?
I am on glimerperide 1 time a day & metformin 2 times a day!. I don't test myself often because I don't have insurance & strips cost $1 for each one!. So I felt horrible today & decided to take a nap to see if I felt better I woke up hours later feeling the same!. I couldn't believe it!. It was 5:30 & I usually eat by 5 so I fixed dinner & tested to see if it showed why I felt so bad!. It was 50 which is really low for me!. Then I took my pill & ate dinner but now I am thinking maybe the pill makes my sugar go lower!. My doctors office is closed now!. Also, what do you think about what I should eat!. I made a whole chicken yesterday so I stir fried a bag of veggies (carrots, broccoli, sugar snap peas) & threw in chicken!. Would you eat something sugary to pull you sugar up!. I know I am looking for an excuse to be bad but it might make me feel better, what do you think!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
50 is hypoglycemia (70-110 is the normal range)!. I assume you are new to this!. The meds you're taking are making your sugar drop too low!. You need to get in touch with your MD ASAP so he/she can adjust the dosage!. Don't take your pills when it's that low!. Your prescriptions are generic & you can get them for $4 at wal-mart for a months supply!.!.!.$10 for 3 mos!. If you need strips I may be able to help you if you have a meter that's compatible with mine, I have plenty of extras that I can give you!. Email me!.

Not an easy question to answer!. Diabetes is a condition and for most people their glucose level varies even with a good diet and medication!. 50 is low!. If it was 50 after dinner then you should contact someone!.!.!. best to check before meal and about two hours after meal and keep a record!. One way to do this without using a lot of strips is:
test before breakfast!.!.!.!.the next day test before lunch!.!.!.the next day test before supper!.!.!.skip a day and then repeat this after each meal ((you really should be testing before and after each meal, yes it is expensive!.!.!.)!.!.
but if you are having readings as low as 50 then you need to test more often!. There are brands that are less expensive!.!.
use your browser to research "diabetic test strips" and you will find many different brands and sources at a wide variety of prices!. Most have to be ordered !.!.!. pharmacies usually carry only a few of the most expensive brands!. I like your stir fry veggies as a diabetic meal use only enough chicken to improve the taste!. I make something like that using only two ounces of ground beef!. There are many diabetic groups online !.!.!.one of the best is "diabetes living" visit several groups as some are mainly social groups and some are more about care and treatment!. 50 is low ! My dr wants mine to be between 75 and 150!. I take metformin and insulin!. How do you get your meds !? Do you pay for them with cash because I know they are very expensive ! Talk with your Dr and see if he knows of any low cost manufacturers that can help you out!. Before I got a job , my Dr told me about a program to get my insulin Free ! It was from Eli Lilly!. many companies today have programs for low income people !. Your dinner sounds good but you didn't have any carbs with it!. Chicken is meat and most veggies are"free" in the carb count but you need a small amount of carbs each day!. Check with your local hospital , often they have programs with a dietician that can help you with carbs and portion sizes!. How did you feel that night !? Keep some glucose tabs or even a tube of that cake syrup ( like the kind my mom used to use) and use those instead of a candy bar!. Candy bars have so much fat , that it will take a while to get you the sugar you need!. Or hard candies, Oj etc!. That way you won't have a reason to be bad LOLWww@Answer-Health@Com
