Severe Nail biting?!

Question: Severe Nail biting!?
I've tried everything from the nasty tasting nail polish to snapping a rubber band to chewing gum, arcylic nails, and conciously trying to make myself stop and nothing works!. Even when I aware that i'm biting my nails I can't make myself stop!. Nothing really triggers it i just simply bite them!. I also bite the skin around my nails whenever I don't have a long enough nail to bite!. It's gross but I just can't seem to stop!. Does anyone have any other ideas!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have bitten my nails for my whole life---about 23 years now!.!.!. I bit them really bad!.!.!.until they bled, down to the white moon-looking thing!. It tastes HORRIBLE!!! It was about $20 for about a months supply----but it lasts WELL over a month(I've been using it for about 3 months now)!. It comes in this little 1/4 oz!. container!.!.!.it looks small!.!.!.but it goes a LONG way!. It is like a balm-typed cream--that you just dab on your nails!. It is the only thing that has helped! My nails look amazing! After your nails start to heal, you'll notice that the skin below your cuticle is starting to get little peels--its natural!.!.it's the skin repairing it self! It works so well!. I also got one of those 7-way nail buffers which helped with making the nails look decent, because as your nails grow they are going to be jagged looking-trust me--this stuff works!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have the same problem!. I tried everything, The only thing that worked for me was in grade school my teacher humiliated me about it in front of the class!. So it was pure fear of embarrasement that made me stop!. After school ended for the year, I bit them even MORE! Its a nervous habit I can't break so I just say to myself, "Hey, its either bite my nails or smoke!."Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have you tried hypnosis!?

I had a friend quit smoking using that!.

It's worth a shot, huh!?

addendum:

OH! I bite my nails!. Not from nerves but because they grow and annoy me!.!.!. I found that if I have a nail file or emory board and can file them to a neat apearance that does not have the edge angles, then I keep them away from my mouth!. That may work too!?

I am sorry but I don't really have a good tip!. Sit on your hands when you are not using them for things!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I bit my nails for many, many years!. I finally decided I needed to figure out a way to stop, so I got 5 Second Bite Free Nail Treatment from Rite-Aid (you can also get it from Amazon)!. It's bitter, but not too horrible, but it's just enough to remind you to stop!. I have now had nice nails for a few months! :) I would suggest trying to keep your nails smooth with a nail file, so you won't be tempted to bite off the rough edges, and apply the nail polish a least once a day!. Once you've decided to stop, it's really helpful to have reminder, like bitter nail polish!. I hope you figure something out!Www@Answer-Health@Com
