hi Spooky, You have certainly spooked me!.
First , whats happened to you is scary and you only 23 !. You do right to ask for information !.Try not to be scared ,You have to be sensible , I am 64 and have been on warfarin for nineteen months for a mechanical heart valve!. I found out information from the Internet, I also got information from other people I came across after having a few bleeds!. don't eat cranberry's, one night I had been drinking j20s with cram berry juice!.
cabbage , alcohol, also thin the blood !. So eat/drink everything in moderation, this way you should soon get stable blood tests !.
I know that my husbands lung is damaged from his PE 15 and 7years ago and he still suffers pain with it !. He will have to take warfarin for life as he also had an heart attack!. !.

You are young ,and hop fully should make a full recovery !.
however the best person to talk to is Your health care provider !.If you feel you need to ask more questions insist you get the answers!. Book a double appointment and talk to your Dr at the warfarin clinic!. Or speak to a nurse, as i did !.cramps can be lack of salts or vitamins!?

No one ever told me gangrene was a side effect of warferin !.My shins have dark patches on them, gangrene had crossed my mind!.
I found there is a lack of imfomation given when one leaves Hospital!.
when leaving hospitalWww@Answer-Health@Com

my mother, she's over 50, hers were on here lungs and her heart!. after leaving the hospital she was on lovenox and had the blood tests for 6 months!. she was also restricted to certain foods!. sometimes she gets leg cramps but she's now off the medication, no more blood tests and now she gets to eat what she wants!. the leg cramps scare her but no relapse yet!. good luck, i know how scary the whole situation was for me i can't imagine what you two are going through!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i worked in a pharmacy and there was a young girl about same age as u with exactly the same, it took a while but she did get better so be patient these things take time!. a lot of people take warfarin on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, so u should be ok once u have had a blood clot i think u r more susceptible but at least ur aware of it now!. good luck and hope ur better soonWww@Answer-Health@Com

With your age, you will probably have a good chance of recovery!. A friend of mine said that even after her blodd clot dissolved, she still had pain in her legs!.

Coumadin and other antiplatelets are very important, and it will be your job to stay on top of it!.
Make sure you take it exactly as directed and go back and have your PT INR done as your doc suggests!. You have to kind of watch the foods that are naturally high in Vitamin K!.!.!.which contributes to clot formation!.

The gangrene is more of the risk of the blood clot obstructing your flow of blood to the tissue!.!.!.not necessarily the Coumadin!.

Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

Hello!.!.!.Pulmonary Embolisms (PE) are seen quite frequently in the ER!.!.!.!.a person once diagnosed with a PE can live a full and active life after diagnosis!.!.!.!.treatment for PE's are blood thinners, once on blood thinners blood test need to be done often to make sure the blood isn't to thin!.!.!.!.once off of blood thinners it would be best to take a 81mg aspirin once a day!. The calf pain could be the result of another form of blood clot called a DVT (deep vein thrombosus), so it may be worth checking into!.!.!.!.!.!.
gangrene is a side effect of warfarin but it's not seen in everyone just a small 5% in cases!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
