Question: Info on stage 4 pancreatic cancer!?
My bosses dad was just diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer!. I was just wanting some info!. on it!. What it does etc!. He was so upset I didn't want to ask him to much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Pancreatic cancer is usually detected at a late stage (stage 4 is the latest) because it usually causes no symptoms until it is large/has spread or because the symptoms are very vague and could look like a number of minor things!.
The pancreas is an organ that is responsible for producing a lot of necessary hormones in your body, like insulin and aiding in digestion!. The tumor is considered stage 4 because by this point, it is large in size, spread to lymph nodes, and other organs of the body!.
Pancreatic cancer usually spreads to the liver and other organs in the digestive system!. The tumors can cause a malfunction of any affected organs!. This, in a short period of time, can lead to the organs shutting down or functioning so poorly that the person cannot continue on!.

My uncle was just diagnosed and has a 1 year prognosis with treatment, in spite of being stage 4, because his liver and pancreatic function are still considered to be near normal!. My husband's grandma was diagnosed as stage 4 just a week before that and her prognosis is 3 months because of how fast her organs are loosing efficient function!.

Unfortunately, pancreatic cancer has one of the worst 5 yr survival curves of all types of cancer!. It depends on the exact type of pancreatic cancer, but some types of pancreatic cancer have only 1-2% surviving 5 years after diagnosis!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
