Chances of me dying in surgery for SVT?!

Question: Chances of me dying in surgery for SVT!?
Ok!.!. So I have SVT (Super Ventricular Tachycardia) and I am getting surgery in August to fix that!. It's not open heart surgery or anything, just a simple surgery, with a catheter through a major artery!. I am extremely nervous about something going wrong or something!. So what are the chances!? And can anyone give me tips on remaining calm or anything!? lol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
i had (quadruple) coronary artery bypass surgery!.
I went in the hospital for a test, and they wouldn't let me leave the hospital till after the surgery!.

so i didn't have much choice - also, not a lot of time to get worried!.

they DID stop my heart!.
Then they started it again!.
all went well - optimum, even!.

I can't give you a percentage, but i can tell you that if ANYTHING goes wrong with your heart or anything else in your body, being in a hospital, in an operating room, with cardiologists is the very best place to be if you want to survive!.

maybe that's strange way to look at it, but it worked for me!.,

BTW, did you hear that an early heart transplant patient just survived thirty years!? he was one Of Dr!. Christian Bernard's ( or is it Barnard's !?) patients!. I think that is pretty good!.

I know - not your exact surgery!. But they have gotten pretty good at this!. I am sure that your cardiologist would give you a low level tranquilizer to help through August, and they will give you more serious drugs in the hospital!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your doctor should have informed you of everything that can go wrong and the odds of any of thoses things actually going wrong!. If he didn't, go talk to him again!. As far as staying calm, well one thing you do not want to do, Do not take anything to make yourself calm!. Unless specifically okayed by your doctor you do not want to take anxiety pills, sleeping pills or anything along those lines!. Again, your doctr is your best resource!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It all boils down to trust!. You are going through this surgery because you trust your doctor!. If you have doubts in his capability, then you probably won't go through with the surgery!. But as the others said, they have gone very good at this!. Don't worry everything will be all right!. The best advice I can give you right now is for you to ask a loved one to be constantly by your side, one who has a positive outlook and cares for you, so he/she can encourage you!. And do pray (it really helps)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Nothing is going to happen to you!. You will be all right, once the surgery is over!.
Even while travelling, disasters happen and people die!. But, did you ever think of this and stopped travelling!? Then, why worry now over this surgery!?
In the ultimate analysis, all things are alike!.
Nothing to worry!. Be cheerful!. You will be fit as a fiddle, once the surgery is over!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

All procedures have risks, and you Dr!. will inform you of these!. Having said that, I am a nurse in a critical care unit, and we have post-ablation patients almost every day!. Usually everything is perfectly fine!. The only problem I have seen, is that occasionally it has to be done again to solve the problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your procedure is called abalation!. Its designed to prevent the reentry conduction causing your SVT!. Your Risk with regards to this procedure is dwarved by the danger of not doing this procedure!.

Any surgery invasive or not run the risk of infections or other complications!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Cardiac ablations are very safe!. EVERYTHING has a risk to it!. Going in for a root canal can cause a problem!. Relax!. Afterwards, you will feel so much better!Www@Answer-Health@Com
