Question: Hep c medicine!?
My boyfriend has Hep C!. And he takes pegasus interferon with ribavirin!. Im pregnant and was wondering if having unprotected sex with him could harm the baby, like could the medicine pass through his sperm somehow!?
I got pregnant before he caught the disease and Yes i understand that having unprotected sex with an infected person could pass the virus to me!. all i want to know is if the meds can harm the baby through his sperm!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the meds will not harm you in any way, i also have hep-c and i wish him well!. let him know that he should be on the treatment no longer than 21 weeks!. the VA maintained me on the program for 42 weeks (results being unresponsive) and it destroyed any chances of me having children again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
YES!! Contrary to what Milton says, there is a STRONG FDA warning about getting pregnant while one of you is on the treatment!. You are supposed to be using two forms of birth control!. You should not even handle the ribavirin (copegus) pills!!!!! There are major birth defects reported when one partner is on this medication!. You need to tell your OB/GYN about this!. This is dangerous & serious!!!!
By the way, hep c is rarely passed on through sex if the relationship is a stable, monogamous, heterosexual relationship!. It can only be passed through blood to blood contact!.
