Answers:
If the antihistamines aren't working and neither is 1% Hydrocortisone cream, try a topical anaesthetic like tinctures of menthol, camphor and/or phenol!. Walgreens makes a great one that comes in a small green bottle!. (I have been covered in mosquito and black fly bites before - I friggin' LOVE this stuff!)

If that fails, you're screwed!.

Just kidding!. Try taking Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) topically!. Buy the CAPSULES of Benadryl and open 1 or 2 into a small glass (shotglass) and mix in a few tsp!. of water!. Mix it to dissolve as much as you can!. It's OK if it doesn't all dissolve - just make a slurry!. After cleaning the bites as best you can, dab this slurry onto each bite with a q-tip!. This should reduce the itching and numb the area for quite a while!.

If the bites are infected (oozing pus), concentrate on cleaning them!. Midges, like black flies, secrete an anticoagulant to keep your blood (their food flowing freely) - this inhibits healing and leaves an open sore!. Cleaning the bite well is very important in this case! Buy a topical antiseptic/anaesthetic (like bactine) and use a cotton ball to scrub the $#!} out of each infection!. Then apply some of the Benadryl slurry to a small bandage and cover the bite!. It should heal itch-free!.

Good luck, I hate those little F***ers too!Www@Answer-Health@Com

did you know that antihistamine tablets open your veins to allow the blood to circulate! so in fact you're making it easier for the little pests to get their dinner!!! I found that putting on a fake tanning lotion stops them from gnashing away from me! all I do is rub in a small amount so I don't look like a tango and that's it, as for the ones you already have try mixing bicarbonate of soda with a little cold water then mix it into a paste and hm mm that really soothes that Itch!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tea-Tree cream - I got savaged by the little b@stards in Scotland and the Tea-Tree cream stopped the itching really effectively!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
