My father is still Coughing at Night six years after a Quadruple By-pass Heart O!

Question: My father is still Coughing at Night six years after a Quadruple By-pass Heart Operation!?
Please help!.
My father skipped the cardiac rehabilitation program after his surgery!. He has had a post-op infection after his open heart-operation surgery and had another surgery a second time!.

He has been coughing ever since and it is worse at night time and sometimes it bothers his sleep!.

He is 70 years old!. What could be the problem!. He has a very busy life and drives most times!. He does walk but does not do regular excercise!.

I do not know what is causing the coughing to continue!. My father things that the surgeon has not fasten his chest properly and it touching his lungs or some organs, which is the reason for his coughing!. I know that the valves put through the troat could explain it but it should not continue for this long!.

Is it normal after six years!? It is dry coughs!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
He may need to see his cardiologist and let them place a Holter monitor on him to wear for 48 hours!. This will monitor his heart!. He may be having PVCs (post-venticular contractions) or atral-fibrilations (A-Fib) when lying down!. These make the heart feel like it skips a beat and causes a "tickle" sensation in the chest causing you to cough!. If this is the problem, they may put him on a beta-blocker or other heart med!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
