Question: Is my husband suffering substance addiction!?
He cannot resist buying SOMETHING when he passes the store!. He won't buy alot!.!.!.and does have it under some manageable control to where he isn't getting baligerantly drunk every night or anything!.!.!. But I am just hoping that he can get it under control to the point of being ABLE to say no and not even buying one!.

He likes those "high energy" beer things they sell!.!.!.!.I don't even know the name!. The stuff that has 8-11% alcohol in them!. He'll usually get 2-3 of them and drink them throughout the evening!. (big guy!. 6'2", 250lbs)

Thoughts!? I appreciate the help!. Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Consider yourself lucky--HE ADMITS HE HAS A PROBLEM! - Most addicts will deny they even have a problem--sometimes even when it may cause great pain!. Does he have a substance addiction problem!?- I would have to say he at least has a moderate problem!.#1!. Mostly an addiction is considered when a person buys something whether they need it or not, in your hubbies case he feels he 'feels' like he needs them!. Why!? I have no idea!.You sound like you both are trying to control this 'problem' before it controls you-- I commend you for your efforts! Maybe next time he decides he wants his "boost' you could suggest that the two of you do something together, play a board game, sit under the stars, watch a romantic movie,etc!.!.!. I personally can't stand the taste of ANY beer--whether it's the 'fake' stuff or the real thing!. Once I realized how they made it I couldn't force myself to drink it without throwing up! Think on it--they put together hops, yeast, etc and let it "spoil"--that's what I call it!. Now if I want a "pick-me-up" I just drink, coffee, iced tea, cappacino,Mountain Dew soda, you know, things with a lot of caffeine!. Once I started that I was able to 'cut back' a lot easier!. I wish you both the best of luck and may God be with you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't really think the question is whether he has an addiction!. But whether it is causing any actual harm within your relationship, other than the fact that you just plain dont like it and have something against it!. I mean, does he get so drunk that he fights with you or abuses you in any way, shape or form!? If yes, then that is a problem!. but if he is just having a few drinks like many other males and it's not causing any problems, then I dont think its an issue!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tough question!. Substance abuse, yes!. High energy drinking, that equals high energy drunk, post facto!. Discuss this with him, to see if there is some underlying cause for his behavior!. Good luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

2 or 3 gets him drunk

he has to find something else to do besides drink he probably does it cause he likes to feel that way (the way he does when he drinks) cause im sorry but he might be bored and have nuthing else to doWww@Answer-Health@Com
