Scarlet fever dangers?!
Question: Scarlet fever dangers!?
Today my sister was diagnosed with scarlet fever and I've done some research into it!.!.!.!.no one seems that worried about it as it can be easily treatable with anitbiotics but I wanted to know what the risks are about it!.!.!.my sister is 13 and I am 17 (though I haven't shown any symptoms of it)Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
Although it is treatable, complications can occur (although are exceptionally rare), these include: pneumonia, kidney damage and meningitis!.
However, as I said, complications are rare, and those are the rarest complications of all!.
To make sure that you can't catch it, try to avoid the infected person, although as it's your sister, that's pretty impossible, so just make sure to wash your hands regularly, and to maintain good general hygiene!.
The good news is that the bacteria reacted and gave your sister scarlet fever rather than streptococcal toxic shock syndrome, which is highly lethal!.
All in all, there aren't many risks associated with scarlet fever, so relax, it isn't that much of a problem these days (well, bar the fact that group A beta hemolytic strep infections are still generally hated by everyone)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
