I had a mandibular advancement many years ago to correct an overbite that I had!. I had braces and, straight after the surgery, my jaw was wired shut for about a week (I think) whilst the titanium screws "settled" and were solid enough to handle the pressure that the jaw exerts, without breaking!. I had most of my food pureed and used a lot of Sustagen Gold (a nutrition shake) and other metabolite /supplement style drinks for another two weeks after the jaw was "released"!. It was an okay experience !.!.!. just don't try and blend a steak or something! *laugh* I would use a straw mainly !.!.!. and then drink through the back of my jaw, where there is space (where the back molars /wisdom teeth used to be)!. It's not fun, but, it achieves the mission and that was important!. Also important is to monitor his fluid balance charts (the chart that usually hangs at the end of the bad)!. Without equal in and equal out, you can lose a lot of weight!. I lost 15 kilos in three days because I was too zonked out of it to notice that I was not drinking enough!.
