Question: Doctor suggests I get a breast biopsy, but says isn't necessary, should I go!?
I'm 18 years old and had my first professional breast exam today at the doctors!. When I was 16 I did a self exam on myself and found a huge hard lump in my left breast!. My mom died 2 years ago from breast cancer, and her mom had breast cancer in the 70s, but ended up dying from a brain tumor in the mid 90s!. The doctor felt the lump and said it was highly unlikely I had breast cancer this young and the lump was probably just normal, but because of my family history and since it's been there for 2 years, he suggested I get a biopsy done so the doctor can tell me for sure what it is, and if they feel needed they can remove it!. He told me it was my decision, but I guess I'm just a little nervous!. Even though it's probably nothing, with my family history should I go just to make sure it's nothing!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

A biopsy involves a little larger needle that usual, but they will deaden the skin first so it's not painful!. Given your family history the biopsy is worth it for the peace of mind!. Better the devil you've identified than the one you don't know, keeping you awake at night!. A lump caught early can be removed, and generally solve things at a point where you can preserve the breast!. It's just not one of those things it's worth ignoring, to be honest!. Yes, definitely go and have a biopsy done! Breast cancer is something that you don't want to mess around with! Knowing that you have significant family history I can't believe that the doctor gave that kind of advice! I know that it can be very scary but in the long run you will feel better knowing exactly what the lump is and what your next step should be, if any!Www@Answer-Health@Com
don't hesitate go get a biopsy, if its nothing then you have 1 less thing to worry about!. i promise you that you don't need to play around when you notice any changes what so ever!. i have breast cancer and i waited to long before i decided to have it checked out!. do it ASAP!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I would get the biopsy!. Even if it's nothing serious, it's something your dr could monitor!.

I'm going to tell you the truth and not sugar coat this!. I had a lump that my doctor and I watched for years!. When the lump came up and stayed up I thought it was time to do something about it!. I had a mammo and then an ultra sound!. The ultra sound came back not property or characteristics of cancer!. There recommendation was to wait 6 month and run the test again!. My doctor God bless him said it's a lump why would you want to keep it there for 6 months and worry!. So, I had it removed and you guessed it, it was cancer!. The heredity kind, and yet no one in my family has ever had cancer!.
So, do I think you should have it taken care of you bet, it's nothing to play games with!. I do the race for the cure every year and have for the last 14 years!. If there is one thing that I have learned is---the women are getting younger and younger!. The youngest one this last year was 24!. So, please don't wait get it looked at!. I really feel that you should have it done even if they have said its not "neccesary"!. The reason I say this is because my Grandad had cancer and when it was removed they said we can do a round of chemo but its not neccesary so of course he didnt have it if it wasnt neccesary because its a lot to go through however he passed away a few months later!.!.!.!.It just makes me feel strongly towards getting things checked out even if it turns out to be nothing!.

Your doctor is not an oncologist !. !. so this is not his area of expertise !. !. go for the biopsy and do not delay !. !. doctors can be wrong, wrong, wrong!. Unfortunately I know way too many young people who seemed healthy and their concerns were taken far too lightly !. !. and the lumps turned out to be cancerous!.
Even if the lump is not malignant at this point !. !. it can turn that way eventually!. Don't mess around with this !. !. go for the biopsy or go for a second opinion with an oncologist that specializes in breast tumors!.
Incidentally, although rare !. !. 18 year old women do get breast cancer !. !.
