Question: Is it possible to have strep or another virus on top of having mono!?
soooooo, they thought i had strep, but i didnt respond to antibiotics so they then figured it was mono!. they did a blood test and yes its mono!. they said id have a sore throat that goes along with it, but my throat hurts worse than almost anything ive had to endure!. im now on vicodin so i am able to sleep, but my throat just keeps getting worse and worse!. no joke i think my throat by my tonsils is going to swell shut!. is it possible to have maybe strep on top of mono!? or maybe another virus that is doing this to me!? cause ive looked up mono online to try and understand and no where did it say i would experience pain this severe!. is there anything to i could do to help my throat!? thanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

I have Mono right now!. I got diagnosed with it about 3 weeks ago!. My first symptoms were fever and achy joints and muscles!. About a week and a half into it, I got this SUPER sore throat!. It was SO bad that I couldn't even swallow my own spit!. I called the doctor and he called in Medral dose pack!. Its an anti inflammatory steroid that reduces the inflammation in your throat, the pain and the swollenness of your lymph nodes!. If it wasn't for that, I think my throat would be killing me!. No over the counter medications helped me!. Yes, a sore throat is normal!. I hope you feel better!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Questions #1 & 2: Yes it is possible!. Most pathogens are opportunistic and if your immune system is already compromised with one infection, any new pathogen present in sufficient numbers can cause a secondary infection!. This isn't a rare occurrence either!.
Question #3: Try Chloraseptic anesthetic throat spray, hot saltwater gargles as often as you like and see if drinking either ice water or hot water helps at all!.

A sore throat with mono is worse than a normal sore throat or strep throat!. It is ten times worse!. It will take time for your thoat to get better!. It will take about three months for you to stop feeling so tired all the time too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
