You only have one urinary tract, so it is absolutely possible to get a UTI even with one kidney!. It is very important for you to go to the doctor for treatment b/c you don't want to risk hurting your one remaining kidney if the infection travels up!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
If they took out your kidney but left your ureter (the tube that goes from your kidney to your bladder) you could get an infection in that tube!. Most UTIs start in your bladder and then travel up into one or both kidneys!. If you're having symptoms of a UTI (abdominal pain, pain or burning when you pee, funny smelling or funny colored pee) you should go to the doctor right away!. You don't want to risk an infection going up into your other healthy kidney!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Im not a Doctor but i would think if they take out your kidney they would take out the urinary tract to it!. That would leave you with a urinary tract on the other side only!. I would say that you should see your doc if you are having problems though!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
