Can an EKG detect heart palpitations even if you don't have one while hooked!

Question: Can an EKG detect heart palpitations even if you don't have one while hooked up!?
About 3 months ago I was diagnosed with anxiety by my doctor!. I was originally worried about my heart, due to random increases in my pulse, and panic attacks!. They determined that I was perfectly healthy after running a few EKG's, blood work and giving me a heart monitor for 24-hours!. I do not believe I had a single heart palpitation while having the EKG's or during the 24-hours I was wearing the monitor!. The good news about my health stopped panic attacks, but did not stop the heart palpitations!. I still randomly got them for an hour or two very occasionally!.

However, for the last three days, I've had heart palpitations (every couple minutes or so) from about an hour after I wake up until I go to sleep at night!. I'm wondering, given my clean bill of health a few months ago, if I should go back to the doctor again with this issue!. What do you think!?

P!.S!. I'm a 27-year-old white male, a little overweight, and don't regularly exercise (though I just started walking today)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
No!.

Palpitations do not cause anything permanent to be created that could be detected later on an EKG/ECG (same thing)!.

Palpitations do not always mean there is actually a heart defect!.
Some people just have these every now and then and can be totally normal!.

Sometimes, however, they can be PVC's, which can be dangerous or normal, but only a qualified cardiologist can tell the difference!.

I can't tell if you have any heart rhythm abnormalities but I think that, being that they were not detected on a 24 HR EKG, they are not frequent enough to be concerned about!.

Talk to your doctor about getting another 24 HR EKG if things persist for another month or two!.

Best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

An EKG can show irregular heart beats such as premature ventricle contractions or premature atrial contractions!. Junctional rythms, atrial fib, etc!. Many different types of heart beats!. If you are feeling palpatations, they can usually find it!. If not, knock off the caffeine, chocolate, or anything that causes your adrenaline to rise!. This can also be a culprit of palpations!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, it can't!. There are special monitors that you can wear for a day or two that record heart activity continously!.

If they are getting more frequent, definitely go back to the doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Nope! I just went through this! Like you, im young-in my mid 20's and getting very frequent palpitations!.!.but its funny because i didnt have them at ALL while hooked up to machines- and the doctor said it was ashame because thats the only time they can tell if theyre dangerous or not!. However, anxiety plays a HUGE role when palpitations are involved!. I say, relax, you were tested-- probably fine!.!. when we are aware of something and scared because of it, tis normally like 100 times worse!. Relax!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
