A possible allergic reaction?!

Question: A possible allergic reaction!?
Last night, upon returning home from a neighbor's house, my hands started to tingle!. I told my husband that my hands were itchy and tingly and I asked him to feel my forehead because I thought that I might be running a fever!. I went into the bathroom and saw that my face looked like it had been sunburned, my head itched, my hands were swelling, and my eyelids were swelling!. I jumped in the shower and rinsed with cool water and washed my hair with baby shampoo!. That didn't help very much, and I was worried, so I had my husband take me to the ER!. In 30 minutes, I was in and out with a steroid shot and told to take some Benedryl!. I got home and took the medicine and went to sleep feeling much better! However, my pinky on my right hand is till swollen and hard to bend!. Should I keep taking Benedryl until all of the symptoms go away!?
I wonder what caused this!. I haven't changed soaps, lotions, foods, or anything else lately!. Any help would be appreciated!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Keep taking the Benedryl as prescribed!. Keep tabs on what you come in contact with or eat each day so you can get a better idea to what it is your allergic to!. If you really wanted, doctors can send off a blood sample and give you a list of things you're allergic to, if you wanted to spend the money!.

Go back to the doctor and tell him what happened!. Being allergic can be dangerous!. My brother is allergic to cats and he has had the same reaction!. The doc may need to prescribe stronger meds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Definitely an allergic reaction, and a severe one at that =(!. Try the benadryl for another day or so, and if your pinky swelling doesn't go down, you may want to see the doctor just to make sure it's just taking its time and nothing else is wrong there!. (as an aside, i've only used it on swollen eyelids, but a hot teabag on the area for 15 minutes or so works wonders for me when my allergies cause swelling)!.
If you haven't changed anything, chances are it was something at your neighbor's house, or perhaps something on your way!. Could you have been stung by a bug!? As someone who's stuck with lots of allergies =) I wouldnt suggest testing anything or looking for a cause until your swelling is completely gone!. Once you feel better, you can go to an allergist and ask for a patch test!. Describe your surroundings that night, the situation, etc!.!.!.this might give the allergist a better idea of what triggers to test for in your patch test!. (the test is just a giant sticker with a bunch of allergens!. it's placed on your back, and you generally keep it for 48 hours and can't shower during that time!. You go back to the doc, who will check it!. If you're allergic to something, the area where it was on the patch test will be red/itchy, etc)!.

good luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
