First aiders: what's the correct way to deal nosebleeding?!

Question: First aiders: what's the correct way to deal nosebleeding!?
Answers:
In my 10 years on the streets of Toronto with Toronto EMS, the most common error by indivduals with a nose bleed was!.!.!.!.!.they didn't apply direct pressure LONG ENOUGH, to get the blood to CLOT

Hold for a mimimum of TEN minutes by the clock!. Then don't disturb the plug for at least a further 2 hours!. to get it to dry up completely!.

NOTE: a person with a nose bleed, who DIDN't get hit in the face, MAY be suffering from undiagnosed high blood perssure!.

In small kids, check their fingernails, for dried blood , to see if they have been picking their nose, and making it bleed!.

Don't tilt your head back, only forward!. On your nose, there's a little bump called the bridge!. You apply steady pressure to the bridge with two fingers in a pinching motion while holding a rag of some sort to your nostrils to catch any blood!. You can also place an icepack on the back of the neck!. All blood lines of the nose, throat, and mouth are connected, so this will decrease bloodflow to your nose to help slow bleeding!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First follow all your BSI (safety) precautions, gloves etc!. Then have the patient sit and lean forward to keep blood from going down the throat!. Apply direct pressure for at least 15 min pinching the fleshy part of the nostrils together!. You can also place gauze between the upper lip and gum!.
Then apply ice to the nose!. But maintain pressure until the bleed has completely stopped!.
If there is a significant amount of blood loss or you cannot stop the bleed, then transport the patient asap!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do not put your head back!. Put ta small plug of kleenex up the nosrtile and pinch!. After about five minutes, draw the kleenex out slowly and the bleeding should have stopped!. Then!.!.!.stop picking your nose in the future!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
