Answers:
Psoriasis is an immune-mediated disease!. This means that your immune system causes your skin cells to reproduce in 3 to 4 days instead of 28 to 30 days, as is the case for skin without psoriasis!.

Whereas normal skin cells are shed from people unnoticed, skin cells affected by psoriasis build up and form raised, scaly lesions!.

Skin with psoriasis becomes red from the increased blood supply to the rapidly dividing cells, and the white scale is composed of dead skin cells!.

Psoriasis goes through an unpredictable cycle: flares, improvement, remission and recurrence!. It is not contagious!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's caused by an inappropriate immune reaction!. Your body produces too many white blood cells and these cause the skin to renew itself too quickly giving the characteristic rash and scales!. It can be caused by an external stimulus - like a bad reaction to detergent, but very often it's associated with nervous problems!.

The same reaction can cause arthritis although one doesn't necessarily follow on from the other!. Arthritis can also be a side effect of treating psoriasis with steroids!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The most common form of psoriasis appears as raised, red patches or lesions covered with a silvery white build up of dead skin cells, which are scaley!. some people with psoriasis also develop psoriatic arthritis, which causes pain, stiffness and swelling in and around the joints!. I have psoriasis and am also self concious when it flares up!Www@Answer-Health@Com

it is when the skin dries out it can go flaky or scabby it can be sometimes closely linked with eczema there are a number of creams and lotions available to treat it try using dead se salt in bath water you can buy it from the chemist and it doesn't cost much and it really effective it may take a few treatments to sort it but in time it will improve no doubt hope this helps ive never heard of it being linked with arthiritis thoughWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes it is actually true that it can cause a form of athritis!. All these people that say it doesnt really dont know what they are talking about!. Try googling it and you will get heaps pf info!. There is heaps of people out there with the condition!. Dont forget to tell your gf that she is beautiful, even when she does have a flare up :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, it's an over reactive immune disease!.

You know we all shed skin, right!? About once a month!?
Well, a person with psoriasis sheds skin like that every 3 days!.
It's always in the "must flake" stage!. It results in plaques on places such as the scalp, stomach, thighs and arms!.
It is incurable, though there are ways to minimize it!.

So far, from what I've seen, sun therapy helps out a LOT with psoriasis!. The best way to fade out plaques is for her to wear a 2 piece swim suit and lay out in the sun!.

My mum has a severe case of psoriasis, and she gets out to go swimming every day to help her skin out-the spots on her arms have faded a lot!.

Hope I was able to clear things up for you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is a skin disease that is very itchy and visible!. It is a serious one (depending on the situation)!.

PS:
Also, don't worry about it being passed onto you because it is not contagious!.

psoriasis happens because the skin is shedding faster than it should do, causing silver scaley patches!. Yes it can lead to arthiris, but not always!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
