Hmmm, that happened to me at 2:40 in the morning a few days ago!. really scary!. I have had skipped heartbeats for years and they never bothered me until tthe other morning because it actually woke me up while I was on my back and then it started racing!. It scared my husband too because he was feeling my pulse and heartbeat in my chest but it went away fast and never ended up going to the emergency room!. I am going to see a cardiologist because I haven't had any tests done in years!. I have only been told in the past that it is mild sinus tachycardia and ectopic heartbeats!. Definitely see the doctor because it could become serious and some cardiac arrythmias can become fatal, depending on which chamber of the heart the fast rythym is coming from!. Hopefully nothing serious, but it is nothing to take lightly until it is checked out!. Don't give up, he may have to wear a monitor for several days or weeks and a clear diagnosis doesn't always happen right away!. I am suspecting that I may have mitral valve prolapse!. Usually it is not dangerous but it can be in some individuals if it becomes severe enough!. I have a cousin who had a leaky valve when they were younger and had surgery!.
Wolff parkinson white syndrome can develop also, and that can bring on these symptoms from what I have researched!. BTW!. I do have a murmer and have had it for several years, and you say your hubby doesn't!? What is his family medical history!? My heart issues don't surprise me because heart problems are major on my dad's side of the family even though they all tend to live pretty long lives!. I do my best to stay active, excercise, eat healthy foods alot, keep weight under control, don't smoke, don't drink and stay the heck away from caffeine!. The first thing my family doc told me was NO CAFFIENE! (how ever it is spelled) so there are some things he can do to help it on his own in the meantime!. Sometimes no matter what you do, heredity creeps up on you but he can lower his risk of problems with a healthy lifestyle!. Hope you both find some relief soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
