Hi,

This is usually a sign of heart attack if person is around 40 or more!. But at 19, it seems impossible!. You shd check his weight to height ratio!. A very good test to find out cardiac problems is to do cardio exercises!. Does he run!? do sprinting and the stuff!. If he does that and doesn't feel any pain n his left chest, it CANNOT be a heart problem almost surely!. So try doing this (don't ask him to run too fast or anything -- initially just walking fast may be a good idea -- best to do these in presence of a doctor)!. If no pain is there, its not heart disease, its something else!. Good luck, keep watching!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

He needs to have an EKG done!. This is the only way to test the condition of the heart and risk for heart attack!.

Chest pain is not normal even for people who have panic attacks and feel they are having heart attacks even though they aren't!.

If Xanax helps him, then he likely does suffer from panic attacks or at least anxiety, but it is still not normal for his chest to hurt or his arms to feel tingly (unless he is hyper-ventalating)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the person who said that it isn't normal for people w/ panic attacks and anxiety disorders to have chest pain has no idea what he is talking about!. If you go to ANY website and look up panic attacks usually the first symptom is chest pains, if Xanax is relieving his symptoms even temporarily that should prove that is it anxiety related, however if it's only helping him for an hour or two he may need a stronger dosage or another medication to take!. I have generalized anxiety disorder and panic attacks from time to time and I get lots of tingles in my arms, down to my fingers sometimes!. The chances of a person under 30 having a heart attack are extremely rare too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
