Well, my daughter kept getting head lice, I stopped washing her hair daily, lice like clean hair, so every second or third day was shampoo and conditioner, and on the other nights just a rinse with water and conditioner!.

Coconut oil is really good for keeping away lice!. You can also buy natural organic coconut oil products!.

Also, the Licemeister comb works the best for removing nits!.

What I do is I slather the whole head with conditioner after wetting it (conditioner or cetaphil), and go through the hair slowly!. Cetaphil, if covering the hair, if you use a hairdryer afterwards dries out the nits and the lice become imobile, it is kind of like the olive oil treatment, but is much easier to wash out!.

Prevention ~~~tea tree and coconut oil has worked for me!. Weekly head checks with the Licemeister comb!. Love that thing!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know what you are talking about!.I used to get them when I was little,I have three siblings so it was nearly impossible to get rid of them!.But we used to sit for four to five hours at a time and get mayonnaise put in our hair only to have it sit for another five hours then have it washed out with this REALLY strong Paul Mitchell shampoo which I absolutely despised!.As for prevention my advice is just not to share you pillow, brush, hats etc with people!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

iv been avin this problem since my kids started school every other day i go through there hair with loads ov conditioner and a nit comb and they just slide out its better than any nit lotion iv usedWww@Answer-Health@Com

The best ways to prevent getting lice in the first place is to keep your hair put up close to your head so it's not swinging loose, and to keep all your head related gear to yourself!. You should not share any of it with anybody- not combs, brushes, bows, hats, or any other head related gear!. In places like school where you will be close to other heads or where you will be around a lot of younger kids- it pays to braid and pin it on top of your head, or at least off your shoulders!. The lice kits are the best way to kill them, but you also have to treat the entire family all at the same time- as well as all the head related gear!. You don't have to bag the animals, though!. Human head lice will not leave a human head meal ticket unless there is another one nearby to hop to!. They don't fall off onto things, they have an excellent grip- which is why it's hard to comb or brush them out!. They don't live in cracks, mattresses, stuffed toys, or pets!. They live on humans exclusively!. The nits can get in hair gear though- so you do have to santize and treat that!. You can wash/soak them in a solution of water and the lice shampoo, and then microwave them for 3-5 minutes, or you can freeze them for a day!. Both ways work!. Pillow cases and washable head gear get washed with hot water, and baked dry in the dryer on high heat for 45 minutes!. Those will all kill things nicely!. Depending on the brand of shampoo you chose, you should repeat the shampoo process again in 5 to 7 days- and catch any new arrivals that may have hatched, before they can reproduce!. If it's any consolation to you, lice actually prefer nice clean heads to dirty one's if they have a choice in the matter!. So it certainly doesn't say anything about your hygeine practices other than you are obviously clean!. Yeah, lice are a misery and nobody likes them!. Keep you hair up, and keep your head gear to yourself- and you will have fewer problems!. If there is an outbreak at school, tea tree oil is a pretty fair repellant, and you can comb a few drops through your hair or put it on your hats/etc!. It's not perfect, but at least it helps pull the welcome mat!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
