I dont think you have anything to worry about!.

First of all, google image "cold sore"!. If you had something nasty you would be able to tell!. It would be really obvious!.

There are a million different variations of "the herpes virus" and a cold sore could look like a tiny red spot, a little pimple on your upper lip, or a huge gross sore!.

----> Just because you have a sore or blemish on or around your mouth doesn't mean you have a cold sore!. If you do, you will be able to tell because it will come back in the same spot at some point in time!. So, there is no point in worrying about anything until you get a similar sore in the same spot multiple times, then you almost certainly have a cold sore!.

More important than fretting about maybe having a sore for the first time is continuing to protect yourself from infection and if you do end up having cold sores, pick up some carmex, it will make them go away 5 times faster and carmex is really cheap(compared to say, Abreva, which is usually like 16 bucks for small tube)!.

Good luck and hopefully you don't have herpes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Even though this is your first cold sore, it is likely that you were initially exposed to the herpes simplex virus (HSV) some time ago and had a cold like illness or no symptoms at all!. Stress, sunlight, immune suppression, and many other things can cause the virus to reactivate and form a lesion!. The lesions are usually small 1-5 mm vesicles (small blister) that pops and turns into an ulcer!. The actual cold sore may be larger than 5 mm because the multiple individual vesicles/ulcers will coalesce!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I get cold sores all the time! I don't know how I first got it but now they keep coming back!. Definitely get Carmex or Abreva ASAP and put it on as much as you can, because the more often you out it on the faster it will go away!. Your lip will feel tingly and just different!. I don't know about the red dot but a blister will start to form and just get bigger!. It's not enormous but pretty big if you don't start putting medicine on it right away!Www@Answer-Health@Com
