Chicken Pox and Shingles?!

Question: Chicken Pox and Shingles!?
As a child (about age 4) I was diagnosed as having Chicken Pox AND Shingles at the same time!. From head to toe!. Where there wasn't a shingle, there were Pox!.

My question is; What is the probability of this happening!? I have googled it and cannot seem to come up with an answer!. Any leads!? Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Interesting question!. I work in infectious disease research, and have just looked through a search engine for scientific journals (called pubmed, its free to use, although access to some of the papers it references is restricted)

There was a paper published in 1965(!), which reported that only 5 previous cases of concurrent chicken pox and shingles!. There was also an article that I couldnt access that reported on a single case, and that was published in 1949!.

So, to answer your question on chances of this happening, very low probability, I think is the answer!

So well done on being unusual!Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is no way to tell the difference, it's the same disease, Mono is also caused by the same strain of virus!. Chicken Pox affects children more readily the elderly get shingles!. This is due to the virus going dormant and appearing later, the virus is stored in the nerve endings!. Shingles usually only affects a small area on the body, like an arm or the chest or face!. An old wives tale about shingles is that if it circled the torso, the patient would die, I sure that some did because of the extreme pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I thought it was not possible given that apparently shingles is the virus that stores itself in the spinal fluid AFTER chickenpox!. In addition it's linked to the elderly I thought! Amazing!Www@Answer-Health@Com
