Do you think the pharmeceutical companys pressure the doctors to prescribe,?!

Question: Do you think the pharmeceutical companys pressure the doctors to prescribe,!?
If you do think this, what about immunizations!? Do you think that some of these might also be unnecessary!?
Do you actually do any research about the immunization before allowing your child to get it!? Do you trust that the medical community has already researched it for you so there is no need for you to do it!?
What if you're at the doctors office and the doc says, "There is a new immunization to prevent___(fill in the blank with whatever)"!. Do you immediately agree or do you hesitate!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

If there is any pressure at all it comes from two other sources!.

The number one source is the patient!. You pay your insurance premiums, you take time off work to keep the appointment, you show up, you make your co-pay, you sit in the waiting room an hour more more past your appointment time, a medical assistant calls you in to take your vitals and leaves you to sit in the exam room, half-dressed, no dignity, freezing your butt off for another 30 - 40 minutes!. All this to see your doctor for 10 quick minutes!. This is an avergage visit!. Are you really going to leave empty-handed!? Most will pester the doctor for SOMETHING, usually a prescription!. Lots of times it's just to shut you up!. So, one source of pressure is the patient himself!.

The other source may be insurance companies!. You understand how HMOs work!? Your PCP - primary care physician - is the "gatekeeper"!. Some insurance companies give incentives to PCPs who keep the problem at the gatekeeper level and who don't make frequent referrals to specialists!. Specialists cost more money which is paid out by the insurance company!. So, if your primary prescribes for you, it may be because she/he hopes to resolve your issue without a referral!.

As far as your doctor bringing up new vaccines, etc!., what's wrong with sharing this information!? You're not being pressured to request the vaccines!. The public has a dire need for health-related information!. For God's sake, there are people who think their entire abdomen is their stomach!. And there is such a thing as asking the doctor questions Look into the FDA approval process and what's involved in development and clinical trials!. See how many longitudinal studies are actually done!.

I quite agree with you that folks shouldn't blindly accept medications without knowing what it is they're putting into their body!. Generally, the docs prescribe the meds they're most familiar with, have researched themselves and with which they've had the best success rate!. One of the rights of a patient is the right to refuse any medication and any form of treatment!. This right isn't always exercised when it could be, when it should be!.

Please keep in mind that ALL medications have adverse reactions!. ALL! Oxygen is a med and has potentially adverse reactions!. Each person is unique and can respond to meds differently!. One med works great for me but makes you sick as a dog!. This doesn't mean the med is bad or poorly researched!. There's no way to know all adverse effects from the onset but if 100 people, with an oddball metabolism or genetic makeup, have cardiac arrest from a med that's been used by millions, this has to be included in the potential adverse reactions - it has to be mentioned in the consumer warnings on the packaging!. But this may happen 10, 20 years down the road!. It can't be predicted, even with research!. As for reactions that we know of right now, there's a thing called weighing the benefits against the risks!. This is a patient's decision that is made with his doctor's advice!. But ultimately, it's the patient's decision!. Let's hope these decisions are informed ones!.

Before he retired, my uncle was a rep who went on to become a regional manager for a very large and well-known pharmaceutical company!. There's no pressure put on practitioners!. There are sometimes incentives but not all reps do business this way nor do all pharmaceutical companies encourage it!. Several years ago this was cut way, way back because it's was just too costly and there was no guarentee it would end in a sale!. Besides, I think the bulk of sales are to hospital pharmacies anyway!.

This was a great question! Thank you for posting it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The pharmaceutical companies don't pressure the M!.D!.'s directley, however, for every drug prescribed, the doctor gets a share!. So the clinics and hospitals prescribe drugs and anti-biotics to cure the disease's instead of using pro-biotics and vitamins!. Anti-biotics kill the disease itself, however pro-biotics and vitamins help YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM fight it!. So instead of putting partially dangerous chemicals into your body, you could be taking vitamins and fish oils bringing wellness to your body!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I dont think they pressure the doctors, they have found that manipulating them with advanced psychological brainwashing techniques are more effective!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

my good freind is a sales rep for a drug company (20 yrs)!. she says they give the doctors a monetary kickback to prescribe their products!. you will notice that most sales reps for drug companies are attractive, cheerleader types!. This helps them close the sale!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
