Mycoplasma infection?!

Question: Mycoplasma infection!?
I have a nephew with mycoplasma infection for the third time this year!. Does anyone know what this is, what causes it and what kind of treatment is necessary for it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Without knowing the details here, I am assuming, you are referring to "walking" pneumonia which is caused by a bacteria Mycoplasma pneumoniae!. This is a nasty little "bug" that can infect the lungs and is particularly difficult to get rid of because it lacks a cell wall which is one of the most common ways antibiotics kill these critters!. The bacteria can be transmitted to others so it is advisable that your nephew stay out of circulation for at least 10 days!. Sometimes antibiotics like erythromycin are used to treat it, but most often it will simply resolve itself on its own!.

What I am curious about is, mostly, the diagnosis is made just on observation and not by running test!. Are you certain that test have provided this diagnoses!? Also, it would seem odd your nephew has had 3 recurrences in one year!. I would urge him to seek medical attention/second opinion if necessary to:

1!. Make certain that the diagnoses has been backed up with a cold agglutinins test!. This won't guarantee he doesn't have it, but if it is positive, you at least, are closer to being definitive!.
2!. Have his doctor dive deeper into finding out why he may be getting the infection so often!. My biggest concerns would exposure source and possibly making sure his immune system is optimal!.

I wish him luck and remember to have him be persistent in getting answers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mycoplasma bacteria are the smallest one cell bacteria known!. They are susceptible to erythromycin and azithromycin!. Immunity after the frist infection is rare but does occur, however, not usually in children as their immune system is still growing and developing!. Mycoplasma bacteria tend to be transmitted by droplet dispersal!. This means when someone coughs, sneezes, yells, sings or just talks really close to the person who becomes infected!. Good hand washing will help to keep transmission down, as will avoiding people with know respiratory aliments!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi,
I was diagnosed with mycoplasma pnuemonia last month (it started 3 months ago)!.!.!.!.!. It does suck! My doctor said it was difficult to get rid of!.!.!.!. I tried Amoxicillian (didn't work!.!.!.!.!.!.!.mycoplasma is resistant to this), a z-pak ( worked well but five days wasn't quite enough), then Doxicycline ( 10 day ( I think this kicked it out!.!.!. I just have a bit of residual fatigue)!. Please make sure he goes to doctor to get this kicked out!.

Mycoplasmas are a small wall-less bacteria that is difficult to kill!. They can cause pneumonia and al sorts of extra pulmonary symptoms!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mycoplasma infection is respiratory illness - otherwise known as walking pneumonia!. The bacteria that causes it lack a cell wall, which makes them difficult to treat!. The recurrence rate is high as a result!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
