Why is down syndrome so funny?!

Question: Why is down syndrome so funny!?
Whenever I see someone with down syndrome, I can't help but laugh!. I start laughing uncontrollably whenever I see one!. I was at my childs end of the year awards banquet tonight, and the principal of the school announced "This is a very special award!.!.!." and some other stuff, and then announced the handicapped kids name and the kid came screaming up, running down to the front of the gym to the principal to collect his award, making all these strange sounds!. They then put the medal around his neck!. I was trying so hard to hold in my laughter!. The mental kid then started screaming some more and then took the medal off and gave it back to the principal and gave the principal a high five, then proceeded to the rest of the handicapped children!.

So why is this so funny!? Can anyone help me out!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

While I am not supporting you, I can see what you mean!.
Some people might say you lack empathy!. I disagree!. How often do you see little kids screaming and babbling about and making funny noises (besides Disney World)!? You probably dont see that often, at least not like this, so you laugh about it!. It's a normal reaction to strange things!. Sometimes I laugh at inappropriate things; I can't help it, it's just my reaction sometimes!.
Since everyone see's the world differently, everyone has different opinions on what is funny!.
Don't worry to much about it!. But try not to do it around people, because they won't think kindly of it!.
You could, however, do some research on Downs Syndrome!. It will educate you on the subject, perhaps on why the children behave that way!. Then maybe you won't find it so funny!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is an interesting question that you admit to laughing at a handicapped child and are curious about why!.

Throughout the history of mankind, people with disabilities have certainly been laughed at, placed on display for public riducule, and even exterminated or left to die because of it!.

I think that perhaps there is a sense of relief within some people that they themselves do not suffer from such a disability that perhaps, as for you, it comes out as laughter!.
I think that this is a reaction to a sort of fear!.

I think also occurs when people have laughed at other kids in school because they were different!.

I think that in your case it reveals that you lack an ability to empathize with others!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you think it's funny , I think you're setting a bad example for your child(ren)!. Perhaps you need to educate yourself on the subject and allow yourself to relate to the challenges one faces when they have such a disorder!. How fortunate you and your child(ren) are that you're not directly affected by Downs, only that you ocassionally be subjected in the public arena by their appearance!. Learn to be civilized, and teach your child(ren) the same!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ahahaha, thats REALLY REALLY wrong ! it just isnt something you are used to so it looks funny to you!. if you want a good laugh look @ down syndrome on the computer and stuff to get all your laughter out in private, its a sad issue though dont let yourself go in public !! thats embarrasinggggggggWww@Answer-Health@Com

One type humor people find funny is humor that makes them feel superior, ethnic jokes, slapstick, physical or verbal humor that pokes fun at others!. Carlos Mencia, Chris Rock, David Spade are rich men because people laugh at the misfortunes of others!. I really believe Jerry Lewis started Jerry's Kids because of an early comedy act he did about a spastic child!. I remember one skit he did on TV, a little boy given a double dip ice cream cone which he immediately slammed into his forehead instead of his mouth!.

It amuses you because you see a child waving his arms, making animal noises, physical humor!. You aren't a bad person for feeling like laughing!. Perhaps you are too honest!.

But here is what you are not seeing!. Parents, like you, who had waited 9 months for a normal child, like yours!. Instead they had one with a limited life span, forever a child to some degree, a 2 year old, a 10 year old if they are very, very lucky!. What you are not seeing is a child who wants very much to be like your child!. That he is different, he can understand!. Why he is different is beyond his comprehension!.

I have a downs syndrome cousin!. Benny!. Every night for 16 years, four years longer than he was expected to live, Benny had ice cream with his grandpa and his grandma read him a story!. Then one day, she died!. That was 4 years ago!. So then, every night Benny had ice cream with his grandpa, went into grandma's room, took down an article of her clothing, held it to his face, then sat quietly on her bed, waiting for his story, perhaps!. Or listening!. Now Grandpa is dying!. Benny sits at the table and waits, his ice cream melting in front of him!. Waiting for grandpa, who will never come!. After a while he pushes the bowl away, untouched!.

The next time you feel like laughing, see the child behind the disease, OK!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
