Answers:
You are asking about impetigo!. It is ususally caused by the Streptococcus pyogenes, also known as Group A Streptococcus!. It is the same organism that causes Strep Throat!. It can also be caused by Staphylococcus aureus, a very common bacteria found on the skin!.

Impetigo is a bacterial infection of the skin by the two organisms mentioned above!. It usually begins in areas of broken skin!. Scratching insect bites is a common way, but may enter by other means such as poison ivy lesions, burns, measles lesions, and superficial cuts!. It can be spread to other areas of the body so, yes, it could be possible for your daughter to get this in a cut!. It may develop in completely healthy skin!.

It is contagious and direct person-to-person contact with an infected individual should be avoided if possible!. Sheets, towels, clothing, and toys can transmit the infection!. Covering the lesions can help prevent spread and scratching!. Antibiotic ointments can be of some use!. Hand washing is necessary to prevent transmitting infected material to other body areas, or to another person!.

Severe cases may require oral antibiotics!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You mean infection!.

Just make sure she see a doctor soon, in the mean time apply neosporan ointment (spelling!?), there are many other too, just get it at a pharmacy!.

Put a good size ban aid, to keep the dirt out, buy some cleanser too and keep it clean dry and loaded with ointment or cream!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
