Answers:
A bp of 120/70 is not really low, actually it's quite good!

The reason why blood-pressure meds work to slow down the heart rate is by vasodialation (or blocking the heart's conduction system)!.

The heart probably beats too fast, because the blood vessels might be diseased and obstructed (arthereoclorosis), or obesity makes it more difficult for the heart to squeeze all the blood through the increased mass of tissue!.

Imagine the heart as a pump (a faucet) and the blood vessels as a garden-hose!. The smaller the hose's diameter, the more pressure you have at the end (ergo high blood pressure), if you have a really large diameter hose, water might just ooze out at the end!.!.!.with no pressure at all (that's what you have when someone goes into shock from bleeding - ergo very low or no blood pressure)Www@Answer-Health@Com

a blood pressure of 120/70 isn't low!. that is a normal bp!. doctors will use cardizem ( in a class called "calcium channel blockers") and other certain bp medications such as a class called "beta blockers" to treat high heart rates, too!. these medications work on the beta receptors in the heart which control the heart rate!. i wouldn't worry about a low bp unless your systolic number (the top one) is under 100!. if this occurs call your doctor!. hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some blood pressure meds, like beta blockers, actually slow down the heart rate!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
