How long should you hurt after extracting a kidney stone? And do you continue to!

Question: How long should you hurt after extracting a kidney stone!? And do you continue to pass blood clots!?
My dad had a kidney stone removed a week ago, they extracted the stone!. He is still in a great deal of pain and very uncomfortable!. He called the doctor's office and they told him to rest lying down, which he did for a couple of days and still has not helped!. Anyone have any information about this!? Thanks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
IF the urologist is only saying to rest, find another urologist!. While he should NOT be doing heavy work like mowing and pouring cement, he needs to let his body tell him when to rest!.
I would get the other opinion as the bleeding doesn't sound normal!. I have had kidney stones blasted out with a lazer and I had pain for 3 days and then I felt much better with no clots!.
The clots are not a good thing and that needs to be checked!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hopefully, he has some pain medication that they gave him and he should be taking it on a regular basis!. Also, if it is continuing to give him problems this far out from his procedure, I would be making another appointment with his urologist for a check-up!. Most of the time, depending on what was done, the symptoms resolve themselves during the first week after the procedure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The blood clots are probable a result of trauma both the kidney stone wreaking havoc and having stone extracted!. He should seek the advice and opinion from a different urologist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
