What can cause severe cramps in the upper leg?!

Question: What can cause severe cramps in the upper leg!?
Ok, my dad ( 60, with a heart condition ( quadruple by pass)) went to the ER with severe ( nearly passed out from the pain!!) cramps in his upper right leg near the hip!. The Dr treated him for dehydration and low blood pressure!. He had good pulse and no numbness!. They determined he had no clogged vessels and no blood clots!. Could dehydration cause this!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Along with dehydration can come low electrolyte levels!. A low potassium level can cause muscle weakness or cramps!. Did they give him any dietary recommendations in his discharge instructions!? Like eating foods high in potassium and increasing his fluid intake!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
