Extreme excessive thirst- causes??!

Question: Extreme excessive thirst- causes!?!?
I am ALWAYS thirsty!. We are not talking your average thirsty person!. We are talking about consuming 6 L!. of water in 16 hrs!. I was tested for diabetes a year ago, and do not have it!. The odd thing is, even after drinking all that water, i do not get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom (nor do i have accidents)!. I'm wondering if this might be serious, and what course I should take!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I'm the same way!. I can down a 24 pack of water bottles in two days and still be thirsty!. Mine is actually because my autonomic nervous system is messed up, but unless you get dizzy when standing that's not the case!. You're probably just a really thirsty person!. Talk to your doctor again, but unless you have any other odd symptoms, i highly doubt anything is seriously wrong with you!.

Oh, and I really recommend drinking gatorade or powerade!. It works miracles!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Getting up in the middle of the night to pee would create another problem called "Nocturia" your body won't usually go during the night usually even if your bladder is filled like a grapefruit!. However if its full and you dont feel the discomfort during the night, it may lead to incontinence later!. I'd also suggest being careful with your thirst too, as there is such as thing as H2O toxicity!. It causes cerebral edema!.

Well since you ruled out Diabetes, it seems as if you are dehydrated!. If this has been just a recent thing, ask your doctor to check your fluid and electrolyte levels!. There maybe an imbalance!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That can basically only be 2 things: Diabetes, or extreme dehydration!. You should get tested for diabetes again, and ask your doctor about your symptoms!. Because they have been going on for over a year, if he can't figure it out he SHOULD send you to a specialist!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Are you overly tired!? Sounds like a symptom of anemia - which is an iron deficiency!. It also sounds like a symptom of diabetes!. I would go to the docs and have them do some blood work just to make sure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should see your doctor as soon as possible!. There are other illnesses/conditions other than diabetes that have excessive thirst as a symptom!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would definitely check yourself out again, but don't forget all of physiologies are different, and water in great quantities is incredibly good for you in nearly all ways!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think I would go and be checked for diabetes again, or tell your doctor and see if some kind of blood test could determine the cause!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
