Question: How can my Bone Scans turn out excellent when I've been told I have Osteo-arthritis in my hips!?
Why do my bone scans turn out excellent, yet I have been told I have Osteo-arthritis in my lower spine & hips!? I've had a reputured-fragmented disk removed from the C4-5 area (cervical)---NECK---and I've been diagnosed by a world reknown medical facility as having a "degenerative arthritis" in my entire spinal column!.!.!.yet, I've had several top orthopods tell me I have osteo-arthritis in my lower spinal area!.!.and hips!.!.!.yet my Bone Scans turn out EXCELLENT!. This is all so conflicting to me!. Is there a medical professional who can explain this!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are two different things involved here - your actual bones and the joints between them!.
A good bone scan means the bone is the normal healthy thickness, not thinned out or porous as it would be in osteoporosis!.
Arthritis is a disease of joints, and is characterised by damage to the joint surfaces, or, in the spine, of the discs between the vertebrae!.
So it looks like you have good strong bones, but not enough "padding" between them!. Friction will eventually wear away the bones where they touch!.

This is a partial blessing, because if you did have osteoporosis as well, the bones might fracture instead of just wearing off from friction!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
