Hello!.!.!.!.I just happened to see your question!.
When my son had chicken pox I heard about a remedy that involves putting oats (as in porridge) in a stocking and tie a knot in it, then put it in a bath full of nice warm water and put your son in the bath to soak!. This really did work for my boy!. I was always trying natural remedies for him rather than use drugs or ointments etc!.
Just pat dry gently and it seems to work!.
It may be something that will work for tonight anyway, hopefully it helps (that is if you have some oats on hand !! )
All the best,

Many things can help, Cold packs or frozen peas/corn, calamine lotion or cortizone cream from the drug store, as stated above oatmeal as a paste or a cool oatmeal bath!. Whatever you do DO NOT ITCH THEM! I did and now have the scares to prove it!. For instant relief cold compresses have an immediate effect!. Calamine lotion is the typical treatment tho!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

anything cooling may help but keep the spots dry so mebe a well wrapped freezer block!?

Distraction may also help, try a favorite story and a warm milky drink to get him off to sleep!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
