Answers:
Grace, meningitis is an inflammation of the covering of the brain and/or the spinal cord!. It can be caused by any one of several viruses, bacteria, or fungus!. In teenagers and young adults (like college students or soldiers living in a barracks), the main worry is the bacteria called Neisseria meningitidis!. If this bacteria gets into the blood, it can cause tiny red spots in the skin anywhere; these are called petechiae and are a sign of an emergency need to treat rapidly with the right antibiotic as patients can rapidly die within hours!. If the bacteria remains in the brain or spinal cord, then there is often an urgent need to do a "spinal tap" where a needle is placed into the lower spine, some spinal fluid removed, sent to the lab, smeared on a glass slide, and stained to recognize easily the bacteria!. Sometimes a blood sample is taken for a culture to see if any bacteria can be identified!. Another bacteria could be involved in younger children!. Treatment, in time, can be life-saving and recovery complete!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tests!? I have never heard of that!.
My brother had meningitas and the doctors told us he had a virus and it will go, about a week later i woke up with him and he had black sick coming out of his nose and could not sit up!
They say that if you have meningitas you have a rash but my brother did not get the rash until just before he passed away!.

I hope your cousin is in the clear, i could not wish that on anyone!Www@Answer-Health@Com
