How do I convince my 76 yr old neighbor to see the doctor regarding her eczema?!

Question: How do I convince my 76 yr old neighbor to see the doctor regarding her eczema!?
Although she's had this condition all her life, the eczema is so severe this time around that she has not left her house since December!. The last time she was to the doctor's was probably 25 yrs ago!. She tells me that she already knows what she needs to do - but I feel that maybe they have made some strides in the last 25 yrs that could help her!. Any suggestions you can give would be appreciated!. I have never seen her skin on her legs and arms look so irritated, bloated, and oozing!. She no longer attends church, goes to the library, or any social events!. I'm at a loss!. Help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi, I too have a little bit of eczema and so does my cousin!. It is a hard thing to deal with when you have it and can be verry irritating!. I am not sure why your neighbor would not go back for another visit but one thing I have discovered is that most of the medications that they give you are a verry low risk to no risk medication!. One year I had eczema on my arms and had an event to go to in a week (high school graduation) and I wanted to get rid of the eczema!. I went to a regular doctor instead of my usual hack of a dermatologist and they gave me a sample bottle of Olux (I think that is how you spell it)!. It is a topical sterroid that you use twice a day untill the eczema is gone then you stop using it and only apply when needed!. (burns like crazy for about 5 seconds) Shure enough the eczema was gone and has not come back ever since!. I keep trying to get my cousin to use it but her mom does not want her to but the side effects were not that bad!. They were only bad if you use it all the time and I have not even finished the sample bottle!. So instead of trying to get them to go to the doctor you may want to tell your neighbor that the stuff she is using may not be the best stuff she could use and and instead of telling her to go to the doctors maybe make some time to go for her and bring pictures to her doctor and explain the situation!. See if you can get a sample of the Olux!.
Hope that helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

try and find a doctor that will come to you
its kind of an emergency
but for now
get her some hydrocortezon cream
clean all the bubbles and put that on it
it relaizes the itch
gets rid of the inflamation
and will help it go
the same thing happens to my fingers and its really gross
just make sure that her skin ddoesnt dry up too mcuhWww@Answer-Health@Com

Maybe try to determine why she doesn't want to go to the doctor!?
It might be that she can't afford it, or she thinks it will cost more than it will - in that case, maybe try and find out what she is covered for on medicare and see if you can get some estimates as to what it will end up costing!.
She might just have a fear of doctors or be afraid of them finding something worse, offer to go with her and convince her that it won't hurt, even if they aren't able to help her!.
She might just be stubborn or doesn't want to be a burden to you - personally I would ask her if it were okay if I contacted a doctor on her behalf just to see if her condition is treatable and find out if it is covered by medicare!. Don't make her feel like you are going to "force" her to go to the doc, because it might scare her off, just try to get her consent for a fact-finding mission!. If you're able to find a doctor, I would make her an appointment and then let her know that you'll pick her up and go with her!. There are some non-profits in most towns that help with this sort of thing - you could try contacting them and they should be able to help with getting medicare figured out and finding doctors that work well with older patients!.
If she is unwilling for even that, you can't really make her do anything against her will!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
