Chicken Pox - vaccine?!
Question: Chicken Pox - vaccine!?
Hi there
I work in a hospital and when i got the flu jag the lady asked me if i had had the Pox, i am 21 and i said no so she had to test my immunity!. I have no antibodies for Chicken Pox and today i got a letter from her asking if i would like the vaccine!?
I was wondering if anyone has had this and how did you feel!?

Hey there!.!. The varicella (chicken pox) vaccine is considered pretty safe; and much much safer than the virus itself!. While the disease is typically just a bother for children, it can be deadly to adults!.
If you haven't had the disease or vaccine before, it is a worthwhile endeavor to have it now!. As for side-effects, like most vaccines there may be some soreness at the injection site, mild aches or low fever for a day or so, etc!. These are easily treated with paracetamol or ibuprofen, however!.

Chicken pox is a common childhood illness (especially in the UK) which is usually mild!. It is caused by the varicella zoster virus!. However, when adults who were not exposed to the virus as children contract chicken pox it can be much more severe and cause much disruption to their lives!.
In the USA children are now routinely vaccinated against chicken pox so the vaccine has been well tested!. It's probably a good idea for you to be vaccinated against it as there are minimal side effects to vaccination and it will prevent you from contracting chicken pox from any patients!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You are an adult, so if you got chicken pox (varicella) now, it would be pretty serious!. The vaccine is safe, so I'd recommend you get it!.
When I was 12, the varicella vaccine became available!. I never had chicken pox, and knowing that I am a violent scratcher (meaning I could have easily disfigured my face by scratching at the pox), I asked for the vaccine!. I had no side effects, and so far, no pox!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
