Question: How to protect against diabetes!?
my dad has diabetes and his dad had it so it mite be genetic and im worried
i am not a couch potato: i play lacrosse, jog in the mornin, am on the wrestling team and Cross Country

No doubt about it, you have the genetic tendency to adult onset diabetes!. You must avoid sugar and most carbohydrates, which turn to sugar the minute they hit your system!.

There are two exceptional books about living with diabetes and adjusting your diet!. One is "Diabetes Solution," by Dr!. Richard Bernstein, and the other is by Dr!. Barry Sears, one of his "Zone Diet" books!. Both talk about the need to eat properly and get the right kind of exercise!. If you follow their advice you can avoid the health problems that will otherwise kill you before you are ready to go!.

We are all addicted to refined sugar from birth!. We absorb it in everything we are fed, and pass the addiction along to our own children!. The entire economy is built around it; look at the labels of everything in cans and containers and you will see that virtually everything had sugar added to appeal to our addictions!.

My spouse also has diabetes and it seem that all his brothers and sisters too!. If you do happen to get it take a cinnamon pill with each meal before you eat!. This helps lower blood sugar if your diabetic!. They sell them at Walmart and any pharmacy!. You can by the 500mg or 1000mg!. Either will be okay!. My mom uses the 1000mg because she says it dose not let her sugar get too high like she usually has it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Cut out sugar or at least keep it to a minimum!. Weight control is essential as well as staying active and drink lots of water
(I suggest reverse osmosis water)!. Learn as much as you can about carbs and metabolism!. There are good carbs and not so good ones!. Basically just take care of your body and stay up on your sugar levels etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Eat Less * Make less food look like more by serving your meal on a salad or breakfast plate!. Share your desserts!. Listen to music while eating instead of watching TV!.

Exercise More * Deliver a message to a coworker in person instead of e-mailing!. Take the stairs instead!.!.!.

Sugar does not cause diabetes!. Poor diet and excercise are the biggest contributing factors!. Make sure you eat a green vegetable at every meal!. Stay active!. Don't gain weight!. If you're overweight, lose it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well family history is just one component!. My grandma has diabetes her mom had it my aunt had it but my mom doesn't and neither do I and my mom eats loads of sugar!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Testing your sugars daily at various times can help with monitoring your glucose levels and record them each time and if your glucose levels stay consistently high above (120 to 130) need to see a doctor for furthers recommendationsWww@Answer-Health@Com
