CDC recommendations is that the animal needs to be quarentine for 10 days!.

If the cat is a stray and unvaccinated, and broke the skin!. You need to go to a doctor - your big concern isn't rabies it is actually infection (very common in cat bites)!. Once you report it to your doctor, your doctor will contact the health department which can come get the cat and quarentine it!.

If the cat develops rabies and dies within the 10 days, then you will be vaccinated!. If it doesn't have rabies, then you will have been saved 5-6 somewhat painful and VERY EXPENSIVE injections!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes you should!. As soon as you get bitten you need to get to a hospital if it broke the skin!. Animals with rabies only live so long after contracting the disease!. Adults and children who have been bitten only live another 3-4 months!. You will go through a series of shots 1-5 and they will be multiple shots at a time and they will be on different days but it must be done to assure that rabies is not contracted!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is never for certain if an animal is rabid or not!.

I would get one just to be on the safe side because it is better to be on the safe side than be in the sorry circle!. haha analogy gotta love them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just to be safe, you should!. When I was two my dad and I were bitten by a rabid cat!. Though the shots are far from fun, they beat the alternative!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
