Breathing problem, maybe asthma?!

Question: Breathing problem, maybe asthma!?
I'm 13 and fairly active!. But lately I find if I overexert myself too much I can't breathe!. It feels like I'm breathing through a straw and no matter how big a breath I take, it only goes a tiny bit down into my lungs!. And I have no breath to exhale!. It happened recently from a pretty easy exercise and I could hardly breathe for almost 10 minutes!. Yet I can run 4 miles no sweat!. My mom has asthma pretty bad, but I never thought I had it!. Everyone says it would be unlikely!. This problem has only happened maybe 5 times in the past two months, but it was pretty severe!. Do you think I have asthma, or something else!? Am I just not used to certain excercise!? Thanks in advance!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you hear a wheezing sound theres a good chance it is asthma, and if so more likely to be exercise induced asthma!. There's good research to suggest that asthma is hereditary!. I'm living proof of that!. My mother is asthmatic and so am I and so are my 2 younger brothers!. If it happens again try to relax!. I know the hardest thing to do is to relax when something not so right is happening to your body!. Place your hands on your head to expand your lungs and try and control and slow your breathing down by taking nice slow breaths!. Now cant promise that it will work for you but it does for me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You poor thing - it's horrible when you feel like you describe!. It sounds to me like asthma, and so I'd go and get it checked out at the Doctor's - it's better to be safe than sorry!

It is possible that you have a type of asthma that is related to exercise!. If your mother has asthma, it is quite possible that you have it, too!. There are medications, like albuterol, that can help you in an emergency situation and there are also medications that are prescribed that help maintain you so that you don't have an experience with extreme shortness of breath!. Ask your mom to take you to the doctor and find out what's going on and try to not exert yourself in the meantime!. Although you don't get short of breath all the time, it only takes one time to find yourself in a really scary situation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
