Who thinks STD screening should be compulsory in high school??!

Question: Who thinks STD screening should be compulsory in high school!?!?
Lets face the facts people!. Sex happens!. And teenagers these days are having sex at a younger and younger age!. From what i read on here, there are a lot of teens having sex!.

And I belive that having STD checks at school could really be of some benifit!.

1 - Teenagers have an understanding there are real risks of contracting a STD (find out they have a STD, prevent it from being spread!, the sooner you find a STD the easier it is to be cured, if it can be cured)

2 - If a STD screen is compulsary, that means that no one is singled out!. All have it and are checked!.

3 - A STD check would be a part of every day life, and the education on STDs would be of all!.

Some people may not like what I am suggesting here!. But!.!.!. look at it this way, if we discover a STD most can be cured!.!.!. rather then later on in life realise they are sterile, because they were to worried to get a STD check, or were unaware that a lot of STDs have NO SYMPTOMS!!! ALSO PREVENTING THE SPREAD!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I DOOOO!!! Hell, that is a very good idea!. But some parents might not be on board with it because they have no common sense and they havent instilled common sense in their children!. But these kids today see sex as a sport!. We have 6th graders getting pregnant!. People are sending their kids to school so that they can be educated, but we need a COMMON SENSE CLASS!.

I think the STD check sounds like a good idea, maybe it could be done once at the beginning of the year in highschool or something!. Hell, I'd like it to start with middle schoolers, but I doubt parents would feel that's appropriate!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well some people aren't sexually active as teens!. I know I wasn't until 22!.
It would be embarrassing to segregate those who have and haven't had sex and make them get tested!. And teens would gossip about results and all sorts of rumours would fly around!.

I think we can educate them at school but making them get an STD check is not a school's responsibilty!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i see where you're coming from!.
but think of all the students who have it and are forced to deal with it!.!.
i think it would be an okay idea but so many students would feel dirty, or discusting!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i think if they are sexually active then they should have to go through the process but if they are not they shouldn't have to!. because they are teens out there who are sexually active with many partners and could be spreading diseases without even knowing it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!. Students should not be forced to have STD screening in High School!.!. Seriously, what in your head makes you believe this is a good idea!?!? Would you like your kid being forced to take an STD test!.!.!. You ******* nazi!. Ever hear of privacy laws!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

hell the f**k no, thas an invasion of privacy, people can get tested on theyr own, if u do it like that evry will kno which kids have it or not, they could be mad fun ofWww@Answer-Health@Com

I AGREE! That way I can stay away with the school whores and hookup with the nice clean girls ;)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Available!? Maybe!. Compulsory!? No!. If Big Brother wants to watch that closely he should get a poke in the eye!. Your premise seems to be that we should use the blunt instrument of compulsory, invasive and expensive (when everyone gets the tests) testing to essentially force Teen's eyes open and educate them!. (Did you ever see Clockwork Orange!?)

They need education!. Better and more of it by skilled educators!. (I'd like to add in courses in marketing of everything via sex, including the concept of instant gratification!.) My impression is that in America especially, there is a hodge-podge of sex (incorporating STD) education ranging from "don't do it" to creative and wide ranging presentations!. If you can't get that act together, how do you think you could provide uniformity in such a wide ranging and controversial program!?

I agree very much with your overall view- an infection is an infection and the virii/bacteria don't really care what you call them or whether they are considered "dirty" or not!. But this is not an effective or good solution in a free society, in my opinion!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think it is an envasion of privacy!. My doctor did it to me once without telling me!. I asked her what she just did(this was during my yearly) and she said it was a test for it!. I was mad!. I found out later she is at least suppose to tell you she is doing it!. she said it was standard procedure!. What made me mad is I was married for years(at least 20) and had 3 kids!. Went there for years!.
I never screwed around and gave no indication of having problems!.
I think all you can do is inform them about protection and about moralities!Www@Answer-Health@Com

no way should it be compulsory!. its an invasion of privacy!. children as young as 12 shouldnt have to be put through that even if they are sexually active!. i would hate it, especially in school! people who arent sexually active shouldnt need to have an std check when they know they r safe that would just be a waste of time and money!. and think of all the expenses that are needed! different sets of equipment, sterilisation techniques, time out of class to get checked which means less time learning which will probably result in poorer test results, and then they need to send off all the samples and stuff to get the results and that can be up to 900 students or more which means they can get mixed up, lost!.!.!.!. sorry but it is not a very good idea, they r trying to do the same thing for drugs, getting all kids tested as the come inn through school and even that doesnt work!. its just a really bad idea
all that is needed is just more emphasis on safe sex and using condoms and all that, its less expensive, kids are still learning at the same time, nobody has to be embarrassed or judged!. there is no need to go to extremesWww@Answer-Health@Com

I agree, it should be compulsory to help stop the rampant spread of std's!.

Teenagers think it wont happen to them!. But statistics do not skip them simply because they are naive!.

Many people, young or older do not understand that you cannot tell by looking at someone if they have any sort of minor or major std!. WIth the exception of seeing a visibile cold sore (aka herpes type 1), it is hard to know if someone has a virus!.

It would perhaps definitively snap some of them out of denial (no symptoms so they refuse to believe they have it and passed it on to you)!.

I dont think it would identify those who have or had not had sex!. Everyone gets tested period!. Some may have caught cold sores from a aunt's kiss and not really know how to treat and reduce their frequency!. Some may have been sexually abused and contracted something that way - this could actually help release a teenager from a very bad situation!Www@Answer-Health@Com
