Question: I have really awful allergies, but I really want a Pomeranian- is this a bad idea!?
When my allergies start acting up!.!.!.its horrible!. Im deathly allergic to cats, pollen, grass, etc etc!.We ave a dog that we believe is a cockapoo/chihuahua mix, and I dont think I am allergic to him at all!. We are considering buying a pomeranian, but i have read that they are not good for allergies!. Does anyone have experience with this or know if I may be okay since cats and dogs have different components that make people allergic to them!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is no special dog for allergies despite what some people might tell you!.
What causes people be be allergic is that their immune system misidentifies a protein that is found in the saliva, urine, and glandular secretions of the dog!. Their body sees this protein and to make a long story short!.!.acts like it is a germ!.
All dogs produce this protein!. Now the amount of protein produced varies from dog to dog!. You can put two dogs of the same breed and gender side by side and they can produce different amounts of this protein!. So, if you want another dog, you have to tackle that protein!. There is a product called Allerpet/D that is made specifically for denaturing (the fancy scientific word for neutralizing) that protein!. I will give you a link to read about it!. If your current dog isn't bothering you!.!.!.!.then it probably doesn't produce much of this protein!. Any dog you add into the house I would put the Allerpet on for at least a couple of months and then wait to see if you react when you stop using it!. If you react, then you know that dog is a big protein producer and you will always need to use Allerpet!. If you don't react, then that dog is also a low producer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

NOt a good idea!! Try another type of dog that is more suitable for people with allergies such as a Yorkie or a Maltese!. These dogs are considered to be hypo-allergenic aka "allergy-free dogs"!Www@Answer-Health@Com
Keeping the dog clean should be the fist line of defense!. The ask the vet if there's something that the dog could take to lessen these feelings!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
