Seizure-like fever shakes?!

Question: Seizure-like fever shakes!?
My thirteen-year-old has a horrible fever with cold sweats and she's started shaking very violently at times, almost like a seizure!. She curls up and then starts trembling harshly, and turns purple and continues shaking!.
What should I do!?
I'm worried she's going to loose conciousness!.
Her doctor just said to bundle her up!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't play around with this!.!.!.take her to an emergency room!. People can suffer seizures and brain damage from high fevers!. Did you take her temperature!? If it is over 103!.5, I would take her to an ER!. I went through this with my 3 yr old a while back and the pediatrician said it was okay that he was at 105!.4!. I will never just wait it out again!. I have since been told by ER staff that at that temp!., I should have brought him in the the ER!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The vast majority of febrile seizures are harmless and occur in children 5 and younger!. I doubt that your daughter is having a seizure!. Treat her fever and use cooling measures and don't bundle her up!. Get her in cool bath and have her drink cold fluids!. Give her Tylenol and alternate this every 4 hours with ibuprofen!. Recheck her temp every hour and write down the times and results and also what med you give and when!. If you see no improvement in another 4 hours, take her to an ER to be on the safe side!. If her temp is 104 or greater (and you never said what it is!), take her to an ER now!.

If you're going to second-guess her doctor this may mean you don't trust her or him!. If that's the case, get a new doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree with the previous answer!. I'm only in my second year of medical school, but any fever so high it is causing seizures needs attention!. Try to cool her down quickly and seek help now! Don't mess around with this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
