You'll know it's probable otitis media when you develop symptoms!. Ear pain, sometimes discharge, a feeling of fullness in the ear, hearing loss in the affected ear, there can be nausea and vomiting and even diarrhea!. There can also be redness and swelling in and around the auricle and external canal!. Not everyone experiences all the symptoms or the same ones!. There are basically 2 types of otitis media, acute otitis media (comes on suddenly and comes on strong) and otitis media with effusion (this is when fluid and mucus continue to accumulate in the middle ear after the infection subsides)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
If you don't have a fever, bad headache or a lot of pain (and you're otherwise healthy; no diabetes, etc!.) or yucky drainage, you can try ibuprofen (Advil) and Sudafed (pseudoephedrine -- you have to ask for it behind the counter; the Sudafed that you find on the shelf is no longer the real stuff) for a day or two!. Docs are using this even for mild infections now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
