Ruptured bladder in animals - in depth details?!


Question: Ruptured bladder in animals - in depth details!?
After googling for many hours, I haven't found anything of real interest!. So I'm curious as to whether there's a Veterinarian or a Medical student that may be able to answer my question!.

Answers:
Common causes: trauma such as being hit by a car, obstruction due to stones or crystals that is not rellieved!.
Tests: blood work, x-rays, analysis of abdominal fluid
Before surgery: correct any acid-base, electolye or hydration problems!. Make sure stable enough for surgery if other trauma present!. Antibiotics!. ECG to rule out arrhythmias!.
Surgery: many anesthetic protocols may be used!. animal is placed on back!. cut is made in middle of abdomen all the way up to allow room for exploration if needed!. Dead tissue is removed and the bladder is sewn up!. It is important that it is water tight!. If urine can leak through it will continue to create problems!.
After surgery: keep in fluids, watch for urinary obstruction or peritonitis!. may need to catheterize if not urinating by self!. Sometimes they give the anial muscle relaxers to help this!.
