Lyme disease is bascially a nasty bacterial infection that knows how to survive off of the host, and avoid it's own demise!. For example the bugs can drill into cartilage, where blood flow is compromised, and stake a claim, pretty safe from most threats!. Lyme Disease can be accompanied by coinfections that by themselves are a handful!.
If not treated, well it depends on the person, and probably many other factors!. I've seen time and time again that stress sets someone off who was probably a carrier!. Soon, they're knocked down and in a world of s*****
I've heard of folks in my area who didn't get treated for a long time if at all, and it can be pretty awful!. Lyme can get into the brain and cause all kinds of severe neurological problems!. Or it can cause severe arthritis!. Or both!.
The longer the disease has gone untreated, the harder it may be to heal!. I am of the impression that it's still possible to heal, but that's based mostly on my own experience and knowing of others, and what they did to get well!.
I am a strong advocate of holistic modalities, rather than pure antibiotic therapy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
