MRSA (methicillin resistant staph areus)is becoming more common or we are testing for it more now!. Regardless there has been an outbreak of the infection!.!. You stated he had a wound on his leg and that is where they determined he had MRSA at!. No you can't get it by kissing unless he touched the wound with his hand and then put his had in his mouth which happens a lot with the type of patients I have because the majority of them have dementia and don't know an better!. He needs to keep a dressing on that all times except with his daily dressing change!. If it is draining make sure that
he keeps the dressing on and you do not come in contact with that area to his body at all!. He should just be in contact isolation meaning that again, he should keep it covered at all times and if the dressing has any drainage that is seeping through then he needs to make sure he changes it immediately!. This may mean he will need to take a extra clean bandage where ever he goes to decrease the risk for cross contamination!. Always wash your hands after contact with him and encourage him to wash his frequently to reduce the risk of cros contamination himself!. Hope that helps and he gets well soon!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I believe you mean MRSA which stands for Meticylicn Resistant Staph Aureus!. Staph is a bacteria that lives naturally in the skin but some forms cause skin infections!. MRSA is particularly nasty because its highly antibiotic resistant!. But it can only be spread through direct skin to skin contact, so only if the infected area touches your skin or if he touches his hand and than touches you!. You can't get it from kissing him but possibly from sex depending on the infected areas location!. But its not normally considered an STD!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I assume you mean MRSA!. That is a type of staph infection!. "staph" just means it is caused by a certain type of bacteria called Staphylococcus aureus bacteria!. It isn't a big deal at all!. It usually occurs in older people, or sick people with compromised immune systems!. In these people it can be very dangerous!. It also occurs in people who play contact sports, share personal items like razor blades, towels, etc!. Or health care workers or people close to them!. But it only causes minor skin irritation in most cases of healthy, young individuals!. If you have any open cuts or sores, you might want to refrain from full body contact until his infection clears up!. But you can still kiss him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

MRSA - methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus!. Staph aureus is a relatively common pathogen in the enviornment, it can cause serious infections if it enters through a wound though, but many of us are carriers on our skin or in our noses and it does us no harm!.
MRSA is that same bug, but resistant to pretty much all penicillin-derived antibiotics (which is actually quite a large chunk of the antibiotics we have available) Bactrim is a sulfa antibiotic, it's from a different class and is often effective against MRSA (and if the MRSA was diagnosed from culture, which is really the only way to be sure then testing can be done to see which antibiotics kill it and which do not)!.
It is an infectious disease, but, at least for wounds, generally spreads only through contact, which means that as long as you don't touch the wound, or any blood or fluid coming from it, you should be OK!. It wouldn't hurt to wash your hands after being around him, and you might want to refrain from close physical contact until the infection is under control, but you are at a low risk of contracting a similar infection!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

MRSA is highly contagious!. But not through saliva!. Your boyfriends calf most likely has a pimple like mass on it!. It will start to open up and the liquid will start to come out!. That is the stuff that is highly contagious!. He needs to keep it covered all the time!. He should make sure he washes all his clothes that he has worn in the last week along with all his bedding etc!.
I am sure since he caught it early that he will be able to get rid of it!. I had it a few years ago and it is serious!. People have actually died from having MRSA!. So be careful touching him too much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
